Saturday Night, PARTY Night!!

Breakfast on Saturday morning consisted of yummy pastries and great coffee…and of course more fun conversations. After some necessary tasks like dishes and laundry, Ladd and Dennis headed off on some errands. Mimi and I headed off on a much more exciting mission: to a flea market and some shopping! (It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it! <g>) I’m happy to report that both Mimi and I made some purchases. Then we headed to a restaurant called “Surf-Side Jenny’s”. It’s a relatively small, family-run place that serves breakfast (all day) and lunch. Mimi went with eggs and sausage gravy over homemade biscuits. I had homemade chili (spicy, which I love) and homemade biscuits. (Mimi could not eat all of her meal, so Dennis got some great leftovers. I ate all my chili, but did bring home one of the super biscuits for Ladd.) Our food was so good, and they had so many great choices on their menu that I may just have to visit there again sometime in our travels.
Dennis and Mimi “lucked out” ending up in a neighborhood with awesome neighbors! They take turns having get-togethers for “happy hours”, picnics, game nights, parties, etc. Tonight we are joining them at one of their neighbor’s houses for just such a get-together. (I guess our timing is pretty good arriving for a “party night”…LOL!) So on our way back to their house, Mimi and I stopped to get some food and wine treats to bring to the get-together tonight.  Also on the way home, Mimi drove a different route to show me the land where a tobacco farm used to be. One “curing barn” is still there, along with the remains of what was probably a shack for workers. It seems amazing to both of us that they are still standing, and we stopped to take pictures.
At 7:00 we walked down the road to go to “Club Neighborhood”. This get-together was a game night held at Suzanne’s house. Suzanne also has a beautiful house and was so very welcoming to the two New York “crashers”. There were fourteen happy neighbors who came, and everyone brought delicious goodies to share. Yum! Although everyone was immediately having fun chatting and munching, it was, after all, “Game Night”.  So we then “let the games begin”. First we played “Taboo”, a game along the lines of the old TV show “Password”. It was the ladies against the gentlemen, and the ladies won “Taboo”. Then we played “Trivial Pursuit”, the first edition, which would be a perfect match for the “oldies” such as Ladd and Marilyn! It was a very close, back-and-forth game that the gentlemen THINK they won. The men had one more pie piece than the ladies did, but they still had one more pie piece to earn in order to win. Since they stopped playing then, this could be considered a “forfeit”. Shall we say the ladies won “Trivial Pursuit”, too? LOL The whole night was filled with great food, great people, great conversations, and great fun. I laughed more than I have in a long time, and we enjoyed every single second! Thanks so much, Suzanne, for sharing your beautiful home with us! Thanks also to all the special members of “Club Neighborhood” for including us in your wonderful group and awesome evening!
