Gaz? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Gasolina!!!

The Most Beautiful Word in the English (Spanish) Language

Yalapa

The acronym OMG was surely created for one specific purpose and one only - to describe Yalapa!

Meeting a new amigo in Puerto Vallarta who got our tickets for the water-taxi to Yalapa

The pier in Puerto Vallarta where we "set sail" in the water-taxi

Puerto Vallarta beach in the morning

Ladd just HAD to get a shot of us coming out of the banos!

Puerto Vallarta beach and pier

On our way to board the water-taxi

Your water-taxi awaits!

We're on our way to Yalapa!

El capitan  del taxi acuático

Arrival at Yalapa

Heading ashore! Hooray!

The remains of the old school on Yalapa: for primary grades only. After that the students would take the water-taxis to Puerto Vallarta for school, stay all week, and come back on weekends. Now with increased population the students go to new schools on Yalapa through high school.

A beautiful, private casa in Yalapa

The "new" store on Yalapa where you can walk in to shop is across the road from...

the "old" store where you place your orders at the window.

Amazingly beautiful scenery walking up to the waterfalls

Master woodworker of Yalapa

Some of his amazing woodwork products

A great "peek" into one of Yalapa's casas

No cars are on Yalapa, but 4-wheelers are. Would NOT want to be crossing this bridge after a couple of tequilas...LOL!

Almost to one of the waterfalls

We made it!

Well worth the climb!

A bar and restaurant next to the waterfalls
(We "lost" a few of our fellow travels who stayed behind at the bar & restaurant! Ha!)

Some prayers for family & friends in the old, old church in Yalapa.

Hmmm...I wonder how many church-goers from home would sit on these wooden benches & kneelers for a whole service.

Siesta!

Views from the hillside looking down at the port of Yalapa

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many would 796 pictures be worth? (That's how many we took today!)
Matters not though because NO picture can do justice to the natural beauty we found ourselves immersed in.
There's little doubt why so many come to visit Yalapa and NEVER LEAVE.

Climbing down to the beach

Paradise Found!

Ahhh!
Can never get enough of this scenery for beach time!

Sandy's & my footprints in the sand!

Meeting a new animal friend: Pedro

Good thing Pedro was calm!

Thoughts of purposefully missing the water-taxi back to Puerto Vallarta crossed our minds in this PERFECT spot to enjoy real Mexican margaritas and authentic nachos with meat, beans, cheese, etc.!

Cottages to rent on Yalapa's beach

No, that is NOT any of us up there...ha! But para-sailing and hang-gliding are very popular at Yalapa's beach.

Yalapa has smooth, sandy beaches, but also rocky coastline. When we arrived on our water-taxi, some of the rocky coastline reminded me of "Pirates of the Caribbean"!
(No sightings of Johnny Depp, though...LOL!)

I searched and I did it! I found the famous "Pie Lady"! Of course, I made some purchases: some for the beach and some for the casa!
(After having her pecan pie & her coconut pie, I can see why the "Pie Lady" is famous! Yum!)

The day went WAY too quickly! On the water-taxi back to Puerto Vallarta.

Hmmm...slowing down...getting low on gas??

And run out of gas, we did!
(Given some of our history, the thought DID cross our minds that perhaps this was bound to happen since WE were on board! Ha!)

We could see the Puerto Vallarta shore, but we sure couldn't swim that far.

The captain & guide were upset, but NOT the passengers. On this calm day with awesome weather and in this beautiful place, who could be upset??!!  We all sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and laughed about who was not sharing their tequila! (Of course, I did NOT tell them about the rest of my packed "Pie Lady" pie...LOL!)

When the captain called for them to bring us more gas, I told him to order some pizzas for dinner, too! Ha!

Here comes the "cavalry" with more gas!

Quick gas delivery...but no pizzas - ha!

On our way again

All ashore at Puerto Vallarta

Beautiful glasswork shop in Puerto Vallarta

Walking back to our car we spotted our guide with gas tanks for the water-taxi!

Guess his boss told him to be sure they were full for the next trip...LOL!

No words can do Yalapa justice but here's a link to some additional information you might enjoy
And yet another that is a loaded with additional info including accommodations.

Yalapa is a place where you can step back in time. It is a place of incredible beauty and peacefulness! (Let's not forget the "Pie Lady's" pies either...ha!)
We LOVED our trip to and adventures on Yalapa!
